Capt. Richard van Renswoude has over 35 years’ experience in shipping industry, having sailed more than 20 years from Cadet to Chief Officer and Captain across different vessel types (Bulk Cargoes, RoRo, LoLo, Heavy Lift, Project Cargo, General Cargo, Containers).

He’s also a specialist in commercial ship operations, with experience in Chartering operations, Ship Owning, Ship Management, Crewing, Budget Control, Ship S&P and Building, Insurer selection and Ship Inspections as well as international commodity trade & logistics.

  • 1994 – 2001: Sailed as Cadet, 3rd Officer, 2nd Officer and Chief Officer at Spliethoff
  • 2002 – 2011: Sailed as 2nd Officer, Chief Officer and Captain at Norfolkline (Part of A.P.Moller) and DFDS Seaways (Formerlly Norfolkline)
  • 2011 – 2016: Global Head of vessel Operations at Glencore Grain, responsible for in-sourcing all Vessel Operations, managing an operational team of 20 persons handling 175-225 dry bulk vessels on Voyage/Time Charter basis
