Food Industry Asia (FIA) is a non-profit organisation that was formed in 2010 to enable major food manufacturers to speak with one voice on complex issues such as food security, food safety and the harmonisation of standards. The organisation covers the whole of Asia, acting as a policy hub for national industry associations and affiliated groups to engage with public bodies and other stakeholders at a regional level.

The Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) is a not‐for‐profit organization established with the objectives to promote greater awareness of the need for quality and innovation in Hong Kong for ensuring product and service excellence through continuous improvement of quality and customer satisfaction, and to provide continuing education to professionals involved in the quality, innovation and reliability disciplines. Being a leading quality management authority in Hong Kong and having a long and well‐established partnership relationship with ASQ, HKSQ has been recognized as a
WorldPartner of ASQ since 2002. HKSQ is also a founding member of the Asian Network for Quality (ANQ).
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the world’s leading organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. Close to 20 000 experts from industry, commerce, government, test and research labs, academia and consumer groups participate in IEC Standardization work. Millions of devices that contain electronics, and use or produce electricity, rely on IEC International Standards and Conformity Assessment Systems to perform, fit and work safely together.
The IEC is one of three global sister organizations (IEC, ISO, ITU) that develop International Standards for the world. When appropriate, IEC cooperates with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) or ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to ensure that International Standards fit together seamlessly and complement each other. Joint committees ensure that International Standards combine all relevant knowledge of experts working in related areas. All IEC International Standards are fully consensus-based and represent the needs of key stakeholders of every nation participating in IEC work. Every member country, no matter how large or small, has one vote and a say in what goes into an IEC International Standard.

In Singapore, the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) is the national accreditation body. Managed by Enterprise Singapore, SAC maintains the integrity and impartiality of conformity assessment practices. The Council builds global trust in Singapore’s products and services by strengthening our country’s technical infrastructure for conformity assessments, as well as in forging Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) with our economic partners. SAC is represented by various interested parties from the industry, government, academia and Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs). It is supported by 5 Council Committees as well as 11 Technical Committees with over 500 committee members and assessors, each overseeing specific fields and areas of accreditation.
What does SAC do?
SAC manages and promotes accreditation schemes and registration programmes by performing these functions:
- Assessing and giving recognition to competent conformity assessment bodies
- Facilitating partnerships with government bodies and the industry on accreditation matters
- Establishing and maintaining an international network for the mutual recognition and acceptance of conformity assessment reports and certificates across national borders
- Raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of accredited Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) services through outreach efforts and regular engagement with government bodies and the industry
TIC Coucnil the voice of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry which was created in December 2018. Born from the merger of former global TIC industry organizations IFIA and CEOC, the TIC Council brings together more than 90 member companies and organizations from around the world to speak with one voice.
The TIC Council engages governments and key stakeholders to advocate for effective solutions that protect the public, facilitate trade and support innovation. With the expertise and competence of its members, the TIC Council is a valuable resource to policy-makers around the world on how the use of TIC services brings value to society, promoting best practices in safety, quality, health, ethics and sustainability. The TIC Council supports the development of international standards and regulations that protect consumers without hindering innovation or adding unnecessary burden to the industry. Moreover, all members of the TIC Council are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity as TIC Council membership requires the mandatory implementation of a compliance code annually verified by an external audit. The TIC Council membership gathers a vast technical expertise and know-how from the most traditional industries such as industrial or commodities inspection, products testing and certification to emerging technologies such as blockchain, cybersecurity and IoT.
